I first heard about Tell Every Amazing Lady® about a year-and-a-half ago, when I was looking for a spot in the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. I was looking for a charity to run with that I would have meaning to me, and with my mother having battled ovarian cancer for many years and passing away in 2017, it struck a chord. I was fortunate enough to gain automatic entry into the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon via the drawing system, and have decided in conjunction to do as much as I can and fundraise for the organization along the way as an unofficial runner on the team.

While I have lofty goals with regards to time, my main goal with this race is to really just enjoy the experience. The ambiance that surrounds the race is unlike any other and I can’t wait to be part of it.

First and foremost, the thing I love about running is that I love being outside. Running gives the unique opportunity, that, while being surrounded by everything, you also can be alone in your thoughts and create and experience for yourself.

Choosing one thing to change in relation to ovarian cancer is tough as there are so many. The obvious hopeful change being to find a cure, but beyond that, finding better testing, or better yet, the creation of a single test for early detection. One of the things I like most about T.E.A.L.® is its mission to create greater awareness of the disease and provide support to patients and survivors, two things that we desperately need more of, and are vital to every lady who is affected by this terrible disease.

If I was able to deliver a single message about ovarian cancer to every amazing lady, it is that you are not alone, as with the help of organizations like T.E.A.L.®, there is a network of folks out there looking to help.
