T.E.A.L.®’s Amazing Lady Membership Program is a FREE mailing kit subscription service specifically for ovarian cancer patients and survivors, tailored to each woman’s needs and interests. By joining the program, ovarian cancer survivors meet others in fun and social settings that celebrate their strength while providing comfort and support. One Amazing Lady member tells us what the program means to her:

Joy found out about Tell Every Amazing Lady® online about eight months ago. Since signing up for the T.E.A.L.® Amazing Lady Membership Program, she has received the initial membership kit — with information about T.E.A.L.®’s services, and the program — and the birthday kit, which featured makeup, hair products, and other fun finds. “The birthday kit was really good, there were a lot of great things I could definitely use.”

Her favorite was the teal nail polish, which she uses to raise awareness. “I’ll paint one finger at a time, and when women ask why, I can tell them about T.E.A.L.®, and ovarian cancer and its signs and symptoms.”

She also found the makeup and hair products helpful during treatment. “When I started on a maintenance drug I lost quite a bit of hair. The products were good at keeping my hair looking fuller. Anything that makes me feel good I found to be helpful.”

To make sure each woman is happy with her T.E.A.L.® Kits, staff members call each program member and ask about her experiences with ovarian cancer, her treatment, favorite colors, hobbies, hair and nails — ensuring that each T.E.A.L.® Kit is truly customized to each Amazing Lady. Staff will check in periodically to offer support and ask for feedback.

Joy says she gets excited when she sees a T.E.A.L.® Kit in the mail, and not just because of the goodies inside. “Whenever you’re going through anything that’s challenging — ovarian cancer specifically because it doesn’t get as much attention — it’s nice, it’s a surprise. It brightens your day and makes you feel like there are other people going through the same struggles. I feel connected to other women experiencing the same thing. It gives a sense of community.”

She says that sense of community she feels has been one of the best parts of the program, because it’s been hard to find where she lives. “I live in small town, so I don’t have access to some of the support groups. It’s challenging to get involved when you don’t have something super close.”

Joy enjoys using the products she receives not only for herself, but to also raise more awareness about ovarian cancer and T.E.A.L.®. “I wear the ovarian cancer ribbon awareness pin I received in the first kit a lot. Then when people ask, you can start a conversation. I like those items to spread the word.”
