Learn more about Amanda, one of our runners on team Tell Every Amazing Lady® for the 2019 Los Angeles Marathon!

I became involved with T.E.A.L.® the day that I found out my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. One of the first things I did after I found out about her diagnosis was research run/walks/charities to support ovarian cancer.

I love everything about running. I love preparing for my runs, like what I will eat, wear, and how far I will go. I love exploring and getting lost in trails and neighborhoods. I love accomplishing running goals and impressing myself with what I can do. I love relaxing and treating myself after a long run or race. I love running because it simply makes me so happy.

My goal for the LA marathon is to raise money, while raising awareness for ovarian cancer. My goal is to raise at least $650 in honor of my mom.

If I would change one thing about ovarian cancer, it would be to have it not exist. However, my mom’s journey of fighting ovarian cancer and having chemotherapy followed by a hysterectomy is just beginning, so I understand that it does exist.

My mom has always made the joke that I am still connected to her by my umbilical cord. We laugh about it, but little does she know that is one of my favorite things she says to me. I never want to be separated from my mom and love that my mom is the mom that God gave me. She has taught me unconditional love, faith, courage, wisdom, kindness, forgiveness, patience, humor, and strength. I know she will be okay as she fights her cancer because Mom, you are not alone. I told her since day one that WE are going to get through this together. I love you mom.

On March 24th, Amanda will be running the 2019 Skecher’s Performance Los Angeles Marathon as part of team Tell Every Amazing Lady®. Support her here: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/tell-every-amazing-lady-about-ovarian-cancer-los-angeles-marathon1/amandakalbarczyk
