My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3C ovarian cancer at 49 years old in February of 2017. My goal for the NYC half is to raise 1,000 dollars on behalf of T.E.A.L.® and to finish with a time of 1:55. I love running because it is an outlet that allows me to relieve stress while still being able to challenge myself. Running brings structure and discipline into my daily routine. If I had the power to change one thing it would be to create a screening test for ovarian cancer so it could be diagnosed in much earlier stages. As of today there is no screening and when it is found it is often stage 3 or later. To all of the amazing ladies out there battling this awful disease, just know you are not alone! There is power in numbers and together we can make a difference.. And to my mom, never stop fighting! Your strength and resilience has shown me that anything is possible. You have been such an inspiration to me and everyone around you!
