My wife Bridget was diagnosed with mucinous ovarian cancer in April of 2018. After surgery and chemotherapy, she is now 1 year-plus cancer-free. After going through this difficult time with her, I started looking for ways to help the cause. Being an avid runner, I was talking to my cousin one night out about running marathons, and how this is my year to do it. That’s when she introduced me to the T.E.A.L.® foundation.

My goal for this half marathon is to finish the race in less than 1 hour and 50 minutes. What I love most about running is the reward you get mentally and physically after.

If I could make a difference or change one thing related to ovarian cancer, other than a cure, it would be a way to more accurately screen for or detect ovarian cancer, removing the nickname “silent killer.” If caught early, ovarian cancer has great prognosis when compared to finding it in late stages.

A message I would like to send to every amazing lady about ovarian cancer is to know your body. If something doesn’t feel right, go get it checked out.
