I’ve been involved with T.E.A.L.® since its inception, as Louisa McGregor’s son’s girlfriend (now wife!). I watched and admired as Louisa and her family worked to build T.E.A.L.® from the bottom up. I have participated in various events with the organization and even interned with T.E.A.L.® while in college. I also attend the T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run every year as a runner on Team McSwills, joined by friends who have been supporting the event since day one!

As an occupational therapist, health and wellness are very important to me, and running is one of my favorite ways to stay active and fit. I ran my first half marathon in April 2019 and recently qualified for the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon through the 9+1 program with my two best friends. My favorite part about running is that it allows me to constantly compete against myself (and my friends!), and work towards getting better, faster, and stronger.

For the 2020 United Airlines NYC Half, I’m running in memory of my mother-in-law, Louisa, and in honor of all the strong women in my life. Through this race, I want to help continue raising awareness for ovarian cancer, hopefully set a personal record, but most of all, have fun!

I hope one day a cure will be found and ovarian cancer will be a disease of the past. I truly admire the bravery of all the amazing women continuing their fight against ovarian cancer, and I will be running with them in mind!
