Learn more about Grace, one of our runners on team Tell Every Amazing Lady® for the 2019 TCS NYC Marathon!

I first became involved with T.E.A.L.® after my aunt and godmother, Mikki Cantley, passed away in March after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. After she passed, I researched organizations within the NYC area that work to raise money for ovarian cancer research, as I am a recent college graduate and will be moving to New York City for work. I found T.E.A.L.® through my online research and was excited to see that they had a team for the TCS New York City Marathon, as I am an avid runner and have completed two half marathons in the past 12 months. I saw the Tell Every Amazing Lady® marathon team as the perfect opportunity to help raise awareness for ovarian cancer and money for research.

I am ecstatic that I was chosen for the team! Running has always been an outlet for me to push myself physically and mentally. It also gives me the opportunity to set personal goals, especially when training for long-distance races. I hope to use this opportunity to raise awareness for women’s health. If I had the power to change one thing related to ovarian cancer, it would be more funding and research for a test that can diagnose the disease early.

Too many amazing ladies, including my aunt, have battled and still continue to battle ovarian cancer. I pray that in the near future, decisive research will help find the cause and cure to ovarian cancer.
